My Husband
Just wanted to introduce (show off) my husband Jeff. I fell in love with him 14 years ago. We were sophomores in college at Liberty University. My major was Accounting/Finance. He just so happened to be in one of my accounting classes. I (for realz) had no idea he was in the class….I had a good reason – he always sat behind me because (his words, not mine) he wanted to be able to check me out without me knowing. He did a good job, because I really didn’t even know he was there.
We finally met. Me and my roommate were finishing up lunch in the dining hall and she stopped to talk to a friend…Jeff’s roommate, and Jeff was sitting there too. I was introduced to them both, and Jeff spoke up – Oh yeah, you’re in my accounting class. I was like – Oh, I am….okay…nice to meet you – and that was that.
Our accounting professor assigned a project that required the purchase of a computer program….now this was back before everyone had laptops or personal computers – so I was just expecting to spend many many hours in the computer lab working on this project. Well, just so happens, Jeff had a laptop. His pick-up line was as follows: “You can use my computer if I can use your software.” And that’s how it began.
Our first date was October 25, 1995 – I asked him out. He was a DJ at Liberty’s radio station. When I found that out, I decided to listen to his show. He was giving away tickets to a Jars of Clay concert to the 9th caller, so I thought I’d call in to try to win the tickets. I called in and just so happened to be the 9th caller and won the tickets. So of course I asked him to go to the concert with me. The concert was a Saturday night.
This is a picture of us on Sunday going to church together…
So the dating began….long conversations every night – even though we had been together all day long. We lost friends because we became so exclusive. I became jealous of any time he wanted to go do something without me…mainly because I didn’t have anyone else to do anything with – we WERE that couple. But we were in love…..sigh…..
We dated about 14 months, then December 28, 1996 he asked me to marry him. He wrote the most creative poem called The Three Gifts…and he had 3 gifts to go with the poem. The 1st was Hershey Kisses, the 2nd was ring cleaner, and the 3rd was my ring – and of course I said YES!!! We were so excited!!
A year and a half later we were married…June 6, 1998.
We have been married 11 1/2 years….and I have to say, it’s been a journey I never could have dreamed up, it’s been amazing.
In the future, I’ll try to fill in the 11 1/2 years, all the ups and downs and how we got through the super tough times in our marriage….but for now, let me just say that I have never been in love with anyone more than I am with my husband. My heart is full. He’s amazing in so many ways and I’m so proud to be married to him. This is my hotness of a husband….no drooling allowed!
