Change…..My Life

January 12, 2010

Sunday was an all-around amazing day at Lifepoint.  People were back in town from travelling over the holidays, the band sounded amazing and lead into a sweet time of worship and then set up the message perfectly with “Mess of Me” by Switchfoot.  The message was super…..you see, right here, I’m in a weird spot….you would say that I only say that because I live with the pastor, but every week my heart is full seeing Jeff do what he’s created to do and knowing he has been anointed by God to speak the truth of the Bible.  So, here are my notes from Change….week 1.

Change….My Life

**Change happens when the pain of staying the same is greater than the pain of the change

**It’s easier to see the change that needs to happen in someone else’s life…Matthew 7:4

How can you think of saying to your friend,s `Let me help you get rid of that speck in your eye,’ when you can’t see past the log in your own eye

**True change comes from the inside out.

1)  Change is initiated in the heart…Ezekiel 36:26

And I will give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit in you. I will take out your stony, stubborn heart and give you a tender, responsive heart.

God literally puts His heart inside us.  His desires become our desires, we begin to love people like He does….the way He wants us to change begins to be the ways we want to change.

Actions originate in the heart….Luke 6:45

A good person produces good things from the treasury of a good heart, and an evil person produces evil things from the treasury of an evil heart. What you say flows from what is in your heart.

God works in us….Philippians 2:13

For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him.

2)  Change is activated in my head….Romans 12:2

Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.

Philippians 4:8-9

8 And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.9 Keep putting into practice all you learned and received from me—everything you heard from me and saw me doing. Then the God of peace will be with you.

3)  Change is accomplished in my actions…..we can walk in the power of God to accomplish what He has put on our hearts to do

You can watch or listen to the whole message here….there were a lot of great points and I’m sure I missed something.

So the challenge and the takeaway from this week was….What is the 1 God initiated change I want to see this year?

The change I believe God put on my heart the first day of the year is REST…..I’ll explain soon  🙂

I totally agree about being the pastors wife! This past Sunday as I listened to Christopher I was overwhelmed and reminded of the annointing that God has placed on Christopher and the messages that he shares. I sat there the whole time with the biggest, cheesiest grin! 🙂 God has blessed us so much, hasn’t He? I look forward to hearing more about your change of rest for 2010!
