A Sacrifice that Honors

February 13, 2012

Make thankfulness your sacrifice to God, and keep the vows you made to the Most High. Then call on me when you are in trouble, and I will rescue you, and you will give Me glory.
But giving thanks is a sacrifice that truly honors Me.
Psalm 50:14-15, 23a

Why does God call giving thanks a sacrifice? Maybe because our tendency is entitlement or selfishness? It’s so easy to believe this life is all about me. God knows that. Maybe that’s why it’s a sacrifice that honors Him.

The first two verses include an “if-then” statement. “If” you 1)Make thankfulness your sacrifice & 2) keep the vows you made to the Most High THEN call on Me when you are in trouble and I will rescue you AND you will give me glory.
This life is about giving God glory.

Thankfulness requires us to humble ourselves, realize/admit we aren’t God and give thanks…for what? Everything!
I thank God for abundant life, salvation, provision, protection and so much more. Focus on those things today and give thanks.

But giving thanks is a sacrifice that truly honors Me

I love it! Thanks for sharing what God is teaching you! I think you do a great job of modeling this principle.
